The
Palestine Hamas fires rockets into Israel. It appears to be more a symbolic
act, symbolic as the throwing of stones onto the tanks oft the Russian occupation
army in Germany 1953 and in Czechoslovakia 1968 – and I use these examples
intentionally! Israel, the bully of
nations in the Near East, of course can’t accept this aggression and launches
an all out war on the Gaza strip as retaliation vulgo prevention of further
attacks. This retaliation is indeed effective with more than 1300 victims on
the Palestine side, many – if not by far most of them – civilians being killed
on markets and in UN schools and some tens of Israeli soldiers killed during
this assault.
But today
the Hamas terrorists have truly transgressed the border of civilised
belligerence: they abducted an Israel soldier! What a barbaric act! Dis they
threaten to cut off body parts of this poor fellow for each hour of continued
aggression – you know like in these medieval torture scenes; let’s not go into
details here, just google it. No,
nothing like this (yet). And the master
bully of nations, the US reaches out to Turkey and Qatar beseeching (in the
words of Mr. Kerry!) them to exert their
influence on Hamas to let the soldier go.
Where is the US influence on Israel asking them firmly to stop their
assault, bloodshed among civilians and destruction of Gaza infrastructure and
property? Mr. Kerry? Did we by accident
overhear your stern arguments with the Israeli leaders?? Mr. Obama, did you not receive the Peace
Nobel Price?
There is a
physically sickening bias towards the actions of Hamas and Israel. Hamas
fighters are flatly terrorists, but the Israel regime terrorising the region
for decades is in the eyes of western media just acting in self-defence. Every criticism of the Israeli state is
denounced as anti-Semitism.
Every day
of Gaza warfare will motivate tens, maybe hundreds if not thousands of Arabic
man and woman to become suicide bombers and is further destabilising the region
that longs for lasting peace. There will be only one winner of these bloody
days: the ISIS franctireurs. Why should we care? Because the West is digging
it’s own grave, and by accident of birth I’m a westerner.
